Please keep in mind the points below:

1. You don't have to provide us with any personal information to participate. You may remain totally anonymous, if you prefer.

2. All snippets must be submitted in English. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to translate entries from thousands of possible languages.

3. Each snippet cannot be more than 140 characters. Also, please remember that your snippet should state the EXACT language or verbiage which you believe should be next in line for the continuing story, whether it is dialogue, description of the surroundings, the mood and/or atmosphere of the scene, etc. Please do not submit your general ideas for the story since we are not writing it . . . you are.

4. You control the story. For example, if you believe that a new character should be introduced at a certain point, mention your proposed character in your snippet for that day, and, if accepted, it may turn the story in a whole new direction. Or you may decide that a character should fall in love, or die a grisly death. Suggest that story direction in your snippet, and if your snippet is accepted, the plot will make that turn.

5. Remember that even if your entry is not accepted on a particular day, it doesn't mean that it wasn't of sufficient quality. Instead, it may mean that we decided on a different entry since it was more appropriate at that point in the story (i.e., describing the scene rather introducing a new character, etc.) Therefore, feel free to submit later entries along the same lines as previously non-accepted entries. The timing may turn out to be better.

6. Snippets can only be submitted through Twitter or through this website. We cannot accept or consider snippets sent to us through email or other forms of transmission.

7. Snippets may be submitted 24 hours a day. However, if a snippet is submitted on a Saturday, it may not be considered as an entry for that week.

8. You may either submit one snippet at a time, or a series of snippets (a thread) in the order you believe they should be inserted into the story. If you submit a thread, each thread should be only from the ending point of the story at that time. For example, if you submit a thread on Monday which applies to the point where the story ends for that week, please do not submit another thread on Tuesday which continues from your previously submitted thread. Each thread should be separate and distinct from your prior weekly threads, and all should apply only to the current ending point. From all the submitted threads, we will choose which thread (or portion of thread) should be applied to the current ending point. This will not only make our job easier, but it will encourage you to use your imagination to formulate a variety of different scenarios which can be considered.

9. Each Saturday, we will post both the latest snippet(s) appended to the continuing story, as well as the entire story up to that point. This will keep you updated so you know the direction the story is taking, and how you should formulate your snippet(s) for the next week's entry.

10. If you decide to submit snippets by thread, please submit no more than one thread per day. This will avoid any confusion as to which specific snippet applies to which thread.

11. We anticipate a large volume of submissions each day. As a result, we cannot guarantee that we will be capable of reviewing each and every weekly submission. In order to increase the chance that we will review your submission, we recommend that you post your weekly entry as early as possible during the week. We also recommend that you keep current on the evolving story. In this way, you can make sure that your entry is consistent with the story up to that point, and that it moves the story forward in a logical fashion. Any entry that does not clearly reflect a full knowledge of the updated story up to that point will be disregarded.

12. It is intended that the ultimate literary work is fiction in nature. It is not intended to reflect or refer to any real individual, living or deceased, nor to any specific historical facts or events. We want you to use your imagination . . . not to tell a story that has already taken place.

13. In the event that we do not receive entries of sufficient quality during any particular week, we reserve the right to refrain from adding to the story until an acceptable entry is received. Similarly, we reserve the right to modify, alter, or change any submitted entry for editorial purposes. However, the person submitting the entry which we modify will still receive credit for that entry.
